Web Design is a process of planning, modeling, and creating content delivered via the Internet and displayed by web browsers like Internet Explorer, Netscape and more.
Web Development is a broad term for any activity related to developing a web site for the World Wide Web or an intranet. This can include e-commerce business development, web design, and web content development. However, among web professionals, web development usually refers only to the non-design aspects of building web sites.
With growing specialization within the Information Technology industry, there is a strong tendency to draw a clear line between web design and web development for the overall logistics of all web-based services.
For larger businesses and organizations, web development teams can consist of hundreds of people, creating thousands of internet jobs. Smaller organizations may only require a single employee or contracted Webmaster, and a Graphic Designer or Internet Specialist. Web development for some companies may be a collaborative effort between departments rather than a designated department.
