Web Director, Web Content Manager, Web Master

Job Description:
The Web Director is responsible for strategic planning, development, execution and implementation related to all of a company's websites. They work with the marketing team to devise the strategic direction and are responsible for budget expenditures and staff oversight of the Web Services department. Web Directors plan, organize and lead the web department to meet company standards and strategic goals and ensure consistency with the company's web mission statement.

Web Directors utilize their knowledge of web technologies, techniques and best practices to help position a company's websites for the future. They maintain and develop a competent, productive and quality-conscious work force. They also develop and implement processes through orientation, training and education to ensure that the competency of all staff members are assessed, maintained, improved and demonstrated throughout their employment.

They will prepare and control operating budgets and department resources by forecasting future web funding needs of the organization, as well as act as a consultant for the organization for initiatives related to Web development and implementation.

IT career goal-setters looking to become a Web Master or Web Director must demonstrate superior negotiation and leadership skills, web expertise and knowledge. They also must have a strong commitment to customer service, including a proactive consultative style. Understanding the connection between electronic communications and the Internet in an organization's overall marketing and communications strategy is also essential.

They need the ability to lead and motivate individuals and groups of people toward the accomplishment of work and organizational goals with experience in selection, evaluation, and direction of subordinates. Job Description:
SEO or Search Engine Optimizer is relatively a new IT job position that has been created through the necessity for companies to have a "Web Presence". This position is responsible for getting a company ranked or placed on a web search engine. The SEO will need to know hands-on optimization work, including html page construction, site architecture, content and keyword research. They will also need to be able to perform extensive analysis on keywords and manage keyword portfolio as well as assist in the translation of business requirements into product specifications.

The smart IT career professional will continually monitor new advancements in SEO technology and evaluate their risks and rewards. SEOs will have excellent writing and communication skills for preparing SEO recommendations to the marketing team and will need to be proficient with Microsoft Office tools including FrontPage.
