Job Description:
The Director of Software Development directs the work of computer programmers. They plan and coordinate activities such as installation and upgrading of in-house custom software, all programming and software design, development of databases, and implementation of software development projects. They are increasingly involved with the security of databases and custom-written programs.

The Director of Software Development manages programming resources for their organizations. They often work under the Chief Information Officer (CIO) and plan and direct the work of subordinate programming employees. These managers ensure the availability, continuity, and security of software development in their organizations.
